If you dig it, please spread the link around.

P.S. You may have noticed I rarely update this blog anymore. That’s because I’m working on a new site. If you’re curious about what we’re up to, however, we’re very, very active on Twitter and Facebook. You can also sign up for the mailing list to make sure you don’t miss anything (the sign up form is to the right, there).

Nightgull Records

Did you know that the dude from Sleep In has a record label? It’s called Nightgull Records. And he’s selling his entire catalogue for 1.75$ apiece?

Seriously, this is completely ridiculous. This man is a genius. Did you check out the record he did for us?Because it is incredible. Really.

I am continually blown away by all the people involved with this label, on both sides of the production/consumption divide. Honestly, what the fuck did I ever do to deserve all this stuff?

Go out and buy music. Then start a band, make a demo, give it to your friends, start a fire, and blow someone’s mind.

New Sleep In is Out! New Records Announced!

Sleep In - Pyramid/Carnival out now on ENEMIES LIST!

Sleep In - Pyramid/Carnival out now on ENEMIES LIST!

Well folks, it’s finally here – Sleep In’s records Pyramid and Carnival are finally available for download in pristine FLAC format. They are both awesome. It’s only $5.00 for both records, artwork, and liner notes. You know this is sick. I know this is sick. Let’s not play these games, shall we? This shit is sick. Go check it out in the store.

On top of THAT – we have our announcements to make. We’ve added two new bands to the roster for this year. I am really, really excited about both of them.

Xasthur and Mamaleek vinyl pressings on ENEMIES LIST!

Xasthur is pretty well known by most. He’s one of the most influential American home-recorders – and a huge influence on us, personally. We are ridiculously excited to be doing the only vinyl pressing of Xasthur’s Defective Epitaph, a record that we think was really important in terms of Malefic’s “career”. We’ll announce more as we get closer ot the release date.

Mamaleek is probably less well-known. Unknown may be a better way to put it, but Let me just say this: this band is completely fucking incredible. I had a literal jaw-drop moment when I heard them for the first time. Buzzy, intricate, middle-eastern influenced shoegazing black metal. This is a real one of a kind. Limited vinyl pressing with a free digital release for all to enjoy. This is going to be a band that people obsess about. I am serious.

We’ll be posting samples and more info as time goes on, but, suffice to say – the label is doing well, and it allows me to spend my personal time listening to and releasing some of my favorite music. It never could’ve happened without the people that support us. Thank you, so, so much. It means a lot.

Big News and Clues, Continued – w/New Sleep In Track.

secretsecrets

secret secrets

Hello all,

First things: as promised, as we build to the new Sleep In release on Monday, here’s a brand new track from the upcoming Carnival:

[audio:Sleep In - Spared.mp3|titles=Spared|artists=Sleep In]

This track is a long, droning mind-fuck. I say that because just about the time you get used to the discordant, almost rambling pace, the song breaks into a gallop. The production is gritty, and has an almost hip-hop-ish feel towards the end. This is simultaneously catchy and abstract, a good example of what Sleep In manages to do on this record. This is really original stuff – right down to the creepy, crooned ending. Must listen. Get into it.

You may also know that we’re announcing two mystery releases on Monday as well. I’ve promised clues as to the releases, and at this very moment a crack team of internet geniuses are at work figuring it all out. Here’s something more to chew on. I’m sure you guys can figure it all out.

Not for the timid. If you missed the previous clues you can check them out here.

Also, please remember: we’re currently selling some limited edition buttons to help support Thao as she walks for 72-fucking-hours straight to benefit cancer research. Give whatever you can; we’d really, really appreciate it. Plus, you’ll get cool pins. What’s not to love? Go check them out.

Thanks to everyone who puts up with my insanity, by the way. Really.

Big News Continued – New Sleep In Track, Secret Releases

ENEMIES LIST has two secret releases planned.

Here we are, rolling out some new stuff in preparation for the announcement on Monday.

First off, new Sleep In track. Listen.

[audio:Sleep In - Back To Land.mp3|titles=Back To Land|artists=Sleep In]

The new record, Carnival, is decidedly more droney, more abstract than Pyramid. It works. It takes time to settle on you. This song, “Back To Land,” is one of the catchier, more straight-forward tracks; it’s hard to divide this record up into songs, however. It really works as a unit, more so than most records that try to accomplish that. It’s a record, not a collection of songs.

As for the secret releases, I promised clues. Here is one.

The following was recorded at a seance in 1936. I have always liked it. It has a wonderful ring.
