Interesting:
Forgotten Tomb, “Springtime Depression”, 2003.
We’ve gotten a lot of positive comments on the Nahvalr artwork, which I designed and am fairly proud of (scary house on the outside, scary person harvesting poppies on the inside, if you’ve never seen it). I’d never seen the Forgotten Tomb record before (though the record seems cool, and I’ll now check it out), but there is a great deal of similarity.
Just goes to show that within a certain creative millieu (in this case, scary/dark/creepy) there are only so many combinations of images and ideas that will elicit the response you’re looking for. Beyond that, there are only so many possible arrangements of atoms, only so many possible chemical combinations. The universe seems infinite in possibility, but logically is limited by its own structure. You can watch creative threads, or memes, rise and fall out of the fluctuations of culture like waves, cresting then disappearing.
Also, scary house is scary. But it’s still interesting.
Hi,
First off, Nahvalr is record of the month at Aquarius Records. Check out the nice reviews they have of us.
Second, I want you to suggest home-recorded projects and bands to me for a super-secret thing we are working on. Go ahead and do it. Do not be shy.
Release schedule on the way. As well as a new release.
Mouth For War:
“Should be in any black metal fan’s library.”
Sputnik Music:
“Nahvalr is a ghost, always elusive and diaphanous, but always entrancing and interesting.”
Rock Blogger:
“A masterpiece of devastatingly bleak reflection.”
Visit the Store to get yourself a copy. We still have the ENEMIES LIST PHILOSOPHER’S KIT as well – limited edition buttons of HANL, Nahvalr, Adam Smith, Alexander Crowley, and more – that are only available with the Nahvalr disc.
I’m getting to work on a new project. Not musical, necessarily – more like a new arm of the label. More soon.
