Read This Before Buying Stuff.
You may notice two stores available on the site. We’re having some trouble. In any case, the old store still works – please use the old store. When we’re ready, we’ll have a nicer, newer store. So there you go.
Thanks!
ENEMIES LIST is the record label that wages war on music. Since 2003.

First:
HAVE A NICE LIFE has a new record out. It’s called Time of Land, it’s four brand new songs, and it is free for download. You should go download it over here. Please tell us what you think about it. Send it to your friends. Hopefully this will tide everyone over until we manage to get our next full-length done.
If you like the music and want to support the band or the label, buy a shirt or record. Or, Sign up for the new mailing list. We won’t send you stupid stuff, or even very much stuff. I promise.
Then:
It’s been quite the few weeks for us. Let’s run down what’s been happening.
First of all, thank you very, very much to everyone who came out to The Stone to watch HAVE A NICE LIFE’s first show. It sold out, we played hard, I passed out, and hopefully people enjoyed it. It’s been a very trying process to make what’s on our recordings appear in the physical universe. You can see some pretty awesome pictures of it here.
If you missed the show, there’s good news: 1. We recorded it for an upcoming project (more on that sometime soon), and we’ll be putting videos of the show online whenever they’re ready, and 2. We have more shows coming up:
4/29/2010 – ALCEST, HAVE A NICE LIFE, & WOE
Wesbter Hall
New York City, NY
4/28/2010 – ALCEST, HAVE A NICE LIFE, & MAMMOTH HUNTER (Reuniting!)
Cafe 9
New Haven, CT
Be there or be square.
America Addio is almost finished with their new album, Cotton Kingdom. I can’t even express how excited I am about this thing, seriously. It’s been a long time coming.
Two new tracks have been posted – listen to them, and then download them, and then give them to your friends and tell them to stop sucking and listen to this band.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Hell yes, there is a New ENEMIESLIST.NET. It took me forever. I’m glad its over, and sorry for taking so long. But: There are big changes here at the label, and more coming. Let me tell you a bit more about it.
First and foremost, you’ll notice this page, and the others surrounding it, have been redesigned. The look is cleaner, more adaptable to the different kinds of content I plan on posting here, and the separate sections of the site are more integrated with one another. Artist pages are now fully-featured, comprehensive places to get information and music from all ENEMIES LIST artists and projects.
That’s important, because this site, and this blog, especially, are going to become more integral to what we do. For a long time, I’ve wanted to lay open the workings of the label, the work of our artists, our methods of production, our philosophical underpinnings (this label has always been as much philosophical statement as capitalist entity); essentially, to create a fully-open, transparent organization. I’ve always wanted that, being someone who wanted to run their own label, and now that I’m stumbling through the process and having some success I want to create the resource that I never had.
In short: expect more blog posts, on a variety of topics – recording, label logistics, upcoming projects, new releases, motivation, interviews. Anything and everything. Also: videos, photos, more multi-media work, more diverse methods of communication. We’re bringing more people on board. Is it going to be regular? Probably not. After all, I still work full time and go to grad school full time finishing two Master’s degrees. Not to mention recording actual music. But I’m going to try.
In terms of logistics, we are upgrading. We’ve moved to a new, dedicated space, one with a lot more room. I’m very close to switching over our e-store software, streamlining the ordering process and fixing several fatal flaws that were cutting into our resources. I’ve made a commitment to increase order turn-around time (balancing the mail-order part of the label with my job, school, girlfriend, dog, and art has never been easy) and eliminate mistakes and delays. I’ll be going into how we’re doing that later.
Artistically, things are moving. We’ve decided to increase our rate of release, bringing in several new artists (who couldn’t be any more different from each other, but who both produce absolutely incredible, amazing music). Check the artists page! They are all incredible, and I am so, so excited to be working on these records. We’ve got a full schedule of new releases from some existing ENEMIES LIST artists as well: Have A Nice Life, America Addio, and Giles Corey should all have records out this year. We’re innovating in terms of packaging and production methods.
What’s more, as some of you probably know, HAVE A NICE LIFE is making the move towards live performance. That’s a huge step for us, an on-going process I’ll be detailing here. Our first show will be at The Stone in Brooklyn on February 28th. We have a short tour planned with an amazing band, Alcest, in April. We are practicing as much as possible and our reaching our goal of being very, very loud.
End result: we are getting more ambitious. We are making the next step. We’re growing. It’s a good thing. We’re going to make a lot of music and crush a lot of dreams, just like we’ve always done.
Thanks to anyone who has supported us, and thank you again if you continue to do so. This is going to be an awesome year. We haven’t even ANNOUNCED everything yet – there’s more that’s still being ironed out. Bottom line, though: let’s fuck a lot of people up this year, shall we?
VOIDS is a fan-compiled collection of HAVE A NICE LIFE demos and b-sides. It’s pretty awesome that someone went to all the trouble of doing this, because, to be honest, I don’t know if I was ever going to get around to it.
